MONTEBELLO, CA— Entertained by music royalty the one and only Queen of Latin Soul made a special rare appearance in the City of Montebello where the songstress told the crowd, she attended Garfield High School which received a big round of applause as the Voice of El Chicano began to sing her the all time classic that she made world famous in 1971, as lead singer of the group, the song she says she has sang “a million times,” non-other than SABOR A MI.

Ersi Arvizu, the soulful voice has been singing since the mid sixties when she formed the girls group THE SISTERS. The group signed a recording deal with Del Fi Records in Los Angeles with one of their first 45’s being GEE BABY GEE in 1965. The Sisters are actually real life sisters; Ersi, Rosella and Mary.

After the success of their Del Fi Records, The Sisters performed with every group in East Los Angeles including Thee Midniters, and Cannibal and The Headhunters. By the early 70’s, the Sisters disbanded with super dynamo Ersi joining a new group/band named El Chicano, the rest is history. Anyone interested can Google and learn more about Chicano Music.

The singer is not called the Queen of Latin Soul for nothing, she can sing rock and soul songs like her recording of I’M A GOOD WOMEN to Spanish classics such as her trademark hit SABOR A MI and one song that she has made it her own MIL BESOS off her cd FRIEND FOR LIFE. Must not forget her pure Latin funk duet with Lil’ Willie G., MUY FI FI.

The Latin Soul Queen took the stage as she sang her heart out; appreciated her fans by thanking them as she performed the Chicano anthem SABOR A MI, MIL BESOS, the Ed Townsend classic FOR YOUR LOVE showing she has not lost her touch and has the same vocal power as she did way back then; it’s a wonder why more concert promoters have not picked up on this too bring Our Latin Legend to the forefront in keeping the Chicano Culture and History alive but here she is never giving up and pushing forward knowing who she is; The Queen of Latin Soul.
